Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th 1964) is an American politician and lawyer who is the 49th and current vice-president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president and is the highest ranking female politician in U.S history. A part of the Democratic Party, she previously served as the attorney general of California from 2011 until 2017 and also as the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her career began in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was appointed district attorney of San Francisco. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General for California. She was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California from 2017-2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator who worked for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. A path to citizenship for undocumented migrants. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. National attention was gained for her outspoken questions of Trump administration officials during Senate sessions. The most notable was Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
