Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a speaker as a consultant, speaker, columnist syndicated as an author, author, and television presenter. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the company. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank until now. By February 2020, she had completed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a purchase of $350,000 in Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 kids born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was always changing jobs during Corcoran's entire life. Her family often relied on the free food delivery from a local grocery store. Corcoran still remembers her father as someone who would drink often and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran had difficulty in school, and was later told she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. After failing several classes during her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and received a grade of D.
